Abstract
Writing is one of the skills that is quite complex for vocational high school students, because to make good sentences, students must understand well all the details of the writing process that are appropriate to the context of the learning material. Meanwhile, in teaching writing, there needs to be a strategy used by the teacher to make it easier for the teacher to teach writing. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to find out the teachers’ strategies in teaching writing and also how do the teachers’ implements thiss strategies, in teaching writing in accordance with the learning context writing in vocational high schools. This study used a qualitative descriptive research design. The subjects of this study were several teachers’ who had taught class XI AKL-1 and 2 at SMK Negeri 2 Kota Kediri. In conducting this research, data was collected from observations of several teachers. Then the data were identified, classified, and analyzed, what strategies have been used and how the teacher implemented these strategies. In addition, the researcher also conducted interviews with two English teachers to find out the strategies used by the teachers’ in teaching writing and how to implement these strategies. The results found that the teachers’ used five strategies in teaching writing. The researcher found five strategies in teaching writing, namely provide sample of a scripts text, also provide sample of a pictures with descriptions, modifying vocabulary, brainstorming, and demonstrating. The way teachers’ implement these strategies varies because each teacher teaches different classes, different grade levels, different student abilities, and different class conditions, and also different major in class. By using this strategi, it is easier and simpler for the teachers’to deliver material, attract students' attention, and also students can receive material easily and clearly according to the context of the material and the learning objectives.
