Abstract

ABSTRACT Abd Syakur, 2022, The implementation of Brain Storming Method based on Mathematical-Logical intelligence and Its Influence on Student Arabic Grammar Competence in Takhossus Markaz Arabiya, Arabic Language Education Study Program, Postgraduate, Kediri State Islamic Institute, Advisor one: Dr. Yuyun Zunairoh, M.Pd. Advisor two: Dr. H. Ahmad Rifa'i, M.Pd. Keywords: Brainstorming Method, Logical-Mathematical Intelligence, And Arabic Grammar Competence. Nahwu (Arabic grammar) is one of the linguistic parts concerned with the relation between a word and another. Nahwu teaching, up to this time, has been having unsolved problems either in its method, media, or the guidance book. Most non-native students regard Nahwu as the most challenging subject. However, learning Nahwu is a must for those who want to master the Arabic language either in listening, speaking, reading, or writing skills. Based on the researcher's observation at Markaz Arabiyah, Nahwu teaching still applies a conventional method namely the lecture method and uses a few media. Therefore, the researcher offers an alternative method as a solution to solve the problems. In this case, this research aimed: 1. To know Brain Storming method implementation based on Mathematical-Logical intelligence in Nahwu teaching, 2. To know the influence of Brain Storming method implementation based on Mathematical-Logical intelligence on student's competence in Nahwu subject. This study used both qualitative and quantitative methods approaches (Mixed methods). The method of this study is descriptive and experimental with QuasiExperimental Design which used Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The sample of this study is taken by applying the Purposive Sampling technic consisting of 30 students of which 14 students are from the control class and 16 students are from the experimental one. The strategy of data collection used in this study consisted of observation, interview, documentation, and evaluation or test. The data analysis used the Triangulation of Miles and Huberman for qualitative data and a ttest for quantitative ones. The result of this study showed that 1) The process of Nahwu teaching with Brain Storming method implementation based on Mathematical-Logical intelligence consisted of three learning activities; The first is opening which consisted of apperception and learning aims. The second activity consisted of creating creative learning situations, determining and formulating problems, and finding, delivering, and evaluating opinions. The third is the closing activity which consisted conclusion and prayer. This brainstorming method is based on logicalmathematical intelligence by adding several strategies, namely; calculating, classifying, looking for and finding problems and solutions, book analysis. 2. Based on independent data of the T-Test Sample, it could be known that the Significance Value (2-Tailed) is 0,021 < 0,05 which meant that there were significant differences between the average of the experimental class and the control one. The influence and effectivity level of that method is taken from the N Gain Score test which showed 45,19% for the experimental class and 29,73% for the control one which meant that the Brain Storming method is effective enough while the conventional one is not.
