Abstract
ABSTRACT Nabilah, Nafisah. 2022. The Use of Quizzizz in Improving Student’s Grammar Ability of MTs Al-Muniroh, UjungPangkah, Gresik. Advisors: (I) Prof. Dr. Mukhammad Abdullah, M.Ag (II) Erna Nurkholida, M.Pd Key words: Grammar, Present Continous Tense, Quizzizz Grammar is the rules about word structure to make a perfect sentence. Grammar is the most important aspect to learn and explore, because using the correct grammar will form and build correct sentences. The level of effectiveness is very high when learning grammar with the play method using technology even though the material being studied is quite difficult because students can be excited to learn through technology (Zarzycka and Piskorz, 2016). The one of appropiate technology in teaching grammar is using quizzizz. This study was aimed at improving students' grammar ability using quizzizz. The research was conducted at MTs Al-Muniroh. There were 20 students of second grade as the subject of research (VIII-C). The research employed classroom action research through research procedure: The researcher conducted observation to seek students' problem and conducted pre-cycle test to measure students' grammar ability Then, the researcher did the cycle 1 consisted of 3 meetings, and continued with cycle 2 which consisted of 3 meetings. There were three set of tests, namely pre-cycle test, cycle test 1, and x cycle test 2 and an observation checklist were used as additional research instrument. The result revealed that there were 9 students or 45% of the total students passed the criteria of success in the first cycle. Here, the criteria of success could not be reached (70%). In the second cycle, there were 15 students who passed the criteria of success or who got 75 or equal to 75 in the grammar test, while 5 students got score lower than 75. Therefore, 75% or greater than 70% students passed the passing grade (70%). So, it could be concluded that the Quizzizz was able to improve grammar ability. To sum up, it could be concluded that the students’ achievement in English grammar improved well and the media that was applied was successful. The media improved students' grammar because it could encourage students to actively participate in grammar sessions game.
