ABSTRACT Handoko, Anis Fauziah. 2022. Parents’ Contributions Toward Character Education in SMP Al-Mahrusiyah Kediri, Post Graduate Program State Islamic Institute of Kediri. Advisors: (I) Dr. Fathor Rasyid, M.Pd. (II) Dr. Toyyibah, S.S., M.Pd. Key words: Parents’ contribution, Character education, Junior high school Character education is the main mandate in the world of education. Many parents want to send their children to Islamic boarding schools with the aim of developing their children's character. Even though they are already at the cottage, it turns out that not all the children's characters are as expected because there is a new environment for them and the parents' contribution is also different. This study aims to investigate the contribution of parents in SMP Al-Mahrusiyah. This study uses a qualitative method by analyzing using descriptive analysis from Cresswell by purposeful sampling. Research data was collected through interviews with parents and observation. There were six parents who were interviewed by taking samples from 3 student indicators, namely students with high, middle, and low character records. There are three findings in this study in terms of parental contributions, namely communication, motivation, and role mode. The contributions are given when the students were at home and in Islamic Boarding School. There are four students whose parents can visit them at the given chance, but two students cannot meet their parents every week. One of them is from a broken home family. From this contribution, there are also characters that appear according to PPK (Penguatan Pendidikan Karakter) and the Profil Pelajar Pancasila, namely fear of God Almighty, noble character, independence, disciplined, confidence, and responsible.
