Abstract

Google Classroom is a learning management system for schools with the aim of making paperless assignments, distributions assignment and assessment easier. Google Classroom acts as a medium or tool that can be used by teachers and students to create online class and also English facilitates and connect each other inside and outside classroom especially in teaching and learning process. This research aims to investigate students’ perception toward the use of Google Classroom to support English learning. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, The data were obtained by analyzing questionnaire from 60 students and interview from 10 students. The participants of this research are students at SMAN 1 Plosoklaten Kediri. The researcher chose the students in XI IPS 2 and IX IPS 5. XI IPS 2 consists of 35 students, and XI IPS 5 consists of 32 students. The findings of this research refer to 5 aspects. Those are acceptance, expectation, social influence, convenience and obstacles of Google Classroom in support English learning process. Then, the data were analyzed based on the frequency of students’ answer and interpreted into percentage from each aspect. The final result of Google Classroom platform is in high interest with the average score on five aspect of the questionnaire is 72,6%. Google Classroom makes the students feel comfortable in learning. Learning is no longer a burden and students dare to continue to explore and experience with the knowledge they learn. In addition, e-learning media in Google Classroom-based has provided convenience and fluency in the teaching and learning process. In brief, the learning trough Google Classroom application obtains the positive perceptions from students. Therefore it can be used for teaching and learning in English as a foreign language (EFL) classroom.
