Ahmad Al Karim. 2014. Improving student's speaking achievement By implementing cooperative learning methode type think pair-share in Smk al-bastomi mojosari nganjuk English Department. STAIN Kediri. Advisor: (1) Dr. Ary Setya Budhi Ningrum, M.Pd. (2) Bahruddin, S.S, M.Pd. Key words: Classroom action Research, Cooperative Learning, TPS method, speaking comprehension. English is taught in senior high school. There are four skills in one English subject. They are reading, speaking, listening, and writing. Based on preliminary of the study, found that most of the students afraid and shy to speak in English, just the cleaver students and the teacher who dominate the classroom. The design of this study is Classroom Action Reaserch (CAR) which conducted within 3 weeks started at Saturday, 17 ^ (dh) may 2014 up to Thursday, 29 ^ (th) may 2014 and then cut with school holiday, then it start again at Saturday, 28 ^ (ih) June 2014 up to Thursday, 3 ^ (th) July 2014. Based on taggart and kemmis, after preliminary study continued by planning, implementing of action, observation and reflecting. The subject of the study was the 11 ^ (th) grade SMK Al-Basthomi, academic year 2013-2014. There are 32 students. To collect data, the researcher used some instruments i.e. observation checklists, field notes, speaking test checklist, and smiling list. The findings indicate that the students are active during the implementation of think, pair, and share, speaking test improve after the implementation of the action. The improvement is shown by the increase of the percentage which is over the criterion of success. The criteria of success are cognitive. For the cognitive learning outcomes, 81, 25% of students achieve score 70 in speaking test. In cycle 1, the criterion of success was not fulfilled. In cognitive learning outcomes, there were only 68% of the students who were successful and the class average was only 58, 56. In the cycle 2 the result was break the criteria of success. In cognitive learning outcome, there were 81% students were succeed and the class average was 76, 09. Based on the result of the study, the researcher concluded that Think, Pair, and Share method can improve students' speaking skill in 11 ^ (th) grade in SMK AL-Basthomi. The researcher would like to suggest to the other teachers to use this method in teaching English speaking especially for 11 ^ (ih) grade vocational high school.
