Abstract
Kumiawati, Siu 2015. The Effectiveness of Using Papper Show on The Increase of The Speaking Stail of The Students of X MIA (Al MAN Purwoari Kediri. English Department Faculty of Education State Collage for Islamic Studies (STAIN) Kedin 2015. Advisor (1) Dr. Mukhammad Abdullah, M.Ag. and (2) Drs. Nurul Ain, MIM Key word: effectiveness, puppet show, speaking skill Speaking is one of skill in English. It is as much needed in this era to communicate or deliver message of speaker directly. This reality makes English Speaking is very important saught in the class. It becomes habitually to practice how to speak English well is teaching speaking teacher has important role in guiding the students to get high motivation to improve their speaking and to make them interested in learning English. In this case most of students are afraid speak because they are afraid to make mistake. In this study the researcher tries to investigate the effectiveness of using puppet show in teaching speaking. This study is to know whether teaching speaking uning puppet show is effective or not. The research design used in this study is quasi experimental which is comparing two groups in difference class that has same achievement, those two groups are, experimental and control group. The students in every groups are 25 students. The experimental group was taught by using puppet show and control group without puppet show. The researcher used two tests (pre-test and post-test) to measure the students ability before and after applying treatment. The result of the tests analyzed by ANCOVA. Based on data analysis of the tests, the result of pre-test, every group gets mean score almost same. The mean of experimental group gets 63.36 and control group 64.30. It is difference after apply treatment. The experimental group gets better score than control group. The mean score of experimental group is 74.10 and the mean score of control group is 68.16. From the result, it can be known that the result of significant value was 0.00. It means that p (0.00-0.05). Based on the result that was described on the table above, it evidences that the null bypothesis was mjected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Therefore, teaching speaking using puppet show was effective in MAN Purwostri Kediri.
