Abstract

Speaking (Speaking Skill) is the ability to express the voice, articulation or words as a means of expressing, stating also conveying ideas and feeling. In this research, the researcher provides the result of Classroom Action Research in learning speaking process. This research has purpose to increase the students in speaking, especially in speaking skill using Discussion Group. The research is using Classroom Action Research with qualitative approach, because this research starts from learning the problem. This research was held in two cycles, and each cycle was done in three meetings. Each cycle consists of four steps, planning, action, observation and reflection. In every cycle, the researcher observes each action to know the improvement of students. In cycle one and two, the students agree or disagree this topic using Group Discussion. The criteria of success are described to access the student's speaking skill. The researcher makes an agreement that the student's achievement improves if at least 75% of students who get score is at least 75 and the average scordis at least 75. The finding of this research showed that the use of Group Discussion that had been implemented by the researcher can increase the student's speaking ability. The improvement can be seen from the result of student's learning process. From cycle one, only 17 students from 37 students (45,94%) get success in speaking using discussion group and in cycle two 81,08% successful students. the students always come in class, they tend to be receptive in the classroom. They feel enjoy and fun when the researcher teachers them using discussion group method. It can conclude that Group Discussion significance to improve student's result of study in learning speaking skill, especially narrative text place for class VII-B of MTs Negeri Jombang Kauman Kepung Kediri
