Abstract

The result of this research showed that this research revealed figurative language used in poem to the evening star by William Blake. This research identified four types of figurative language, there are 50% (10) personification, 35% (7) metaphor, 10% (2) symbol, and 5% (1) alliteration. Figurative language in each line of the poem has a different meaning because of the different types of figurative language. But from analyze type and meaning of figurative meaning the researcher can conclude that poem "To the Evening Star" is a work that illustrates admiration and appreciation for the beauty and spiritual power of the evening star, while spotlighting its important role in creating hope and tranquility amidst the darkness and uncertainty of the world. This research provided readers with several advantages, especially those involved in lectures and college-level studies. It was anticipated that further research would be conducted on the analysis of figurative language in poetry and other literary works.
