Abstract

The process of teaching and learning activities never escapes efforts to support better student learning outcomes. With so many different ways or methods of teacher learning to support student quality, teachers are also faced with diverse classroom situations and student abilities. So it becomes a challenge for teachers to provide learning that suits students' capabilities and what they need. Especially for assignment methods that teachers usually use to support student learning outcomes. Based on this situation, researchers tried to investigate and research how teachers implemented assignment methods in English classes. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. This research describe the, application of the assignment or recitation methodology at smk al huda kota kediri. Including preparation, selection, and evaluation of result of the assignment method at al huda vocational school kediri. The subjects of this research were two teachers and students of X tkj I, X tkj II, XI tkj II, XI tpm II. Data collection techniques in this research by interviewing with two teachers and two students. Based on the research results obtained, it can be seen that the preparation of assignment applied by trying several assignment methods in several meetings, selection of assignment method applied by using direct observation of class by looking several condition in class , and evaluation of the result of assignmnet method using the direct assignment grade correction method. Meantime, teachers' view of using assignment method were positive and negative. In positive preception, teachers perceived that assignment method was good for students. Otherwise, in negative perception, teachers perceived that they were difficult to see the students' capability for choosing the assignment method, and cheating. However, despite positive and negative views about assignment method, the assignment method is an one of the effective way that surely recommended to be apply by teachers in learning procces. So it can be conclude that two teachers tend to use the method of assigning individual assignments in the form of descriptive text, narrative text and essays.
