Abstract

Arabic learning particularly in the aspect of qawaid (grammar), requires media that meet students’ needs in the digital era. Android-based applications like “Isim Mu’rab” emerge as innovative grammar learning tools in the form of interactive quizzes. However, to ensure their effectiveness as learning aids, it is necessary to test the validity and reliability of the questions in the application. Based on this background, the researcher formulated three research questions: 1) What is the interface and system operation of the “Isim Mu’rab” Android application?; 2) What are the results of the validity test of the grammar questions in the “Isim Mu’rab” application?; and 3) What are the results of the reliability test of the grammar questions in the “Isim Mu’rab” application? This research uses a descriptive quantitative approach with purposive sampling techniques, involving 50 students of Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Wustho from Pondok Pesantren Qur’anan ‘Arobiyya and Pondok Pesantren Al-Amien. The instrument was a set of multiple-choice questions from the “Isim Mu’rab” application, used to assess students’ understanding of i’rab material. Data were collected through tests and documentation, and analyzed using SPSS version 25 to measure validity (using item-total correlation) and reliability (using Cronbach’s Alpha). The results show that the quiz questions in the Isim Mu’rab application are generally valid and reliable. In the first quiz, out of 27 questions, 26 (96.16%) were valid and 1 (3.84%) was not, with a reliability score of 0.945. In the second quiz, out of 40 questions, 32 (80%) were valid and 8 (20%) were not, with a reliability score of 0.956. In the third quiz, out of 120 questions, 73 (60.83%) were valid and 47 (39.16%) were not, with a reliability score of 0.956. These results indicate that the question items in the application are sufficiently good for evaluating grammar learning, although some items need improvement and difficulty level adjustments. The Isim Mu’rab application has strengths in its very high question reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha > 0.9), the majority of valid questions, feedback features, a large number of questions, and support for independent learning. However, its weaknesses lie in the presence of some invalid questions and the absence of question grouping based on difficulty levels.
