Abstract
Azmi, Najihatu. 2024. The Effect of Digital Flashcards as Learning Media to Improve Students’ Speaking Skill. Thesis. Department of English Language Education, Faculty of Tarbiyah. State Islamic Institute of sKediri (IAIN Kediri). Advisor: (I) Dr. Toyyibah, M.Pd. (II) Bahruddin, S.S., M.Pd. Keywords: Digital flashcards, Speaking Skills, Learning Media In teaching and learning process in the class, there are a lot of students who find some difficulties in learning English. One of the difficulties is speaking skill. The students’ speaking skill in SMKN 1 Ngasem is still low. To solve this problem, the researcher use learning media, media used in this research is Quizlet as digital flashcard. The objective of this research is to know whether there is any significant effect of digital flashcards to improve students’ speaking skills at the first semester of the 10th grade of SMKN 1 Ngasem Kediri in the academic year of 2024/2025. The research methodology used quasi experimental design. The researcher used two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. In the experimental class, the researcher used a Quizlet as digital flashcard, while in the control class, the researcher using picture. In each class received the same pre-test and post-test. The population of this research was the 10th grade of SMKN 1 Ngasem Kediri. The sample of this research were 2 classes consisting of 74 students. There are 37 students in experimental class and 37 students in control class. In collecting the data, the researcher used oral test to collect the data. The pre-test was given to the two class before giving the treatment. The result of pre-test showed the mean score of experimental class was 68.38 and the control class was 63.35. After giving the treatment, post-test was given. The result of post-test showed the mean score of experimental class was 79.15 and the control class was 73.26. In data analysis, researchers used non-parametric statistics, because the data obtained did not follow a normal distribution. The researcher used a non-parametric statistical test using the Mann Whitney test. Mann Whitney test found that null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. It can be seen that the sig. value is 0.000 < ∝ (0.05). It means, there is significant effect of digital flashcard as learning media to improve students’ speaking skill.
