Abstract
Grammar is an essential component of language that plays a crucial role in effective communication. The importance of grammar cannot be overstated, as it is the framework that enables speakers and writers to create coherent and meaningful expressions. Understanding the importance of grammar, the challenges faced by foreign learners in Indonesia, and the specific difficulties Indonesian students encounter during grammar learning is vital for enhancing language education in the country. This research aims to develop an Android-based application for learning tenses in English grammar. In pursuit of the defined research objectives, the study adopted a Research and Development (R&D) framework. The ADDIE model, integrated with R&D principles, offers a comprehensive framework to ensure that educational products and interventions are systematically developed, rigorously tested, and continuously improved. The analysis of interviews in this study is conducted employing a method known as descriptive qualitative analysis. This research employs a quantitative approach for data collection, utilizing validation sheets as the primary means. Based on the needs analysis, it is clear that students require a modern learning medium to study grammar. This app would focus on language features, particularly tenses, and be tailored to meet the learning objectives of the independent curriculum. The app's content includes comprehensive tense materials and interactive quizzes for self-assessment and practice. The combined assessment of content and media validation resulted in an average score of 4.61, signifying that the Learn Tenses App is highly valid. In conclusion, the culmination of this research project marks a significant contribution to the field of language education, particularly in the realm of technology-mediated learning. The development phase saw the materialization of the envisioned application, with a focus on simplicity, accessibility, and educational efficacy. For future researchers interested in expanding upon this study, several avenues for further exploration and enhancement present themselves, such as longitudinal studies, continuous improvement, and emerging trends.
