Abstract

Writing is the process of comprehending, producing, and rewriting written work, requiring a sophisticated understanding of how to develop ideas, organize them logically, check the clarity of the text, edit the language for proper grammar, and produce the final result. One of the factors that helps writing skills is reading habits and linguistic intelligence. On the other hand, the habit of reading is an action taken to gain a better understanding of the ideas and concepts expressed. By having good reading habits, linguistic intelligence is needed to analyze the information obtained and translate it into written work. With linguistic intelligence, a person will be able to understand the language design that will be used for certain purposes in writing. This study aimed to find to determine the significance of the relationship between reading habits and writing skills of class 11 students at MAN 2 Kediri. secondly, researchers want to know the significance of the correlation between linguistic intelligence and writing skills of class 11 students at MAN 2 Kediri. and finally, the researcher wants to know the significant contribution between reading habits and linguistic intelligence on the writing skills of class 11ᵗʰ MAN 2 Kediri students. This study used correlation quantitative research design. This research had two questionnaire (reading habit and linguistic intelligence) and one tests (writing test). The participant of this study was 140 students of eleventh grade in MAN 2 KEDIRI in 2024 academic year. To analyze the correlation, researcher used Kendal’s tau b formula with SPSS. As follow the finding of this research. The First, it revealed that there was moderate significant correlation between reading habit and writing skill (sig. value=.000, r=.481). Second, there was moderate correlation between linguistic intelligence and writing skill (sig=.000, r= 589). Third, that there was high correlation reading habit and linguistic intelligence with writing skill (sig. F change=.000, R= .759) and a coefficient of determination (R square) was obtained 0.577. which means that the contributed of reading habit and linguistic intelligence variable on writing skill is 57.7%. Based of data above, although the correlation is high, the level of significance is sufficient to reject the null hypothesis (Ho), which means that (Ha) is accepted. It means that reading habit and linguistic intelligence have a coefficient high correlation to the writing skill. It can be said that when students have a good reading habits and linguistic intelligence, they also that have a good writing skill.
