English Educational Department, Faculty of Educational, State Islamic Institute of Kediri. Advisors: (1) Nur Afifi, M.App.Ling,Ph.D and (2) Dr. Toyyibah, M.Pd. Keywords: TED Talk Video, Speaking Skills, Students’ Experiences, Advantages, Challenges Technological advances today must be developed in the world of teaching and learning, especially in teaching and learning foreign languages such as English language learning. TED Talk videos is a learning media selection strategy that EFL students can use in English speaking classes. The purpose of this study is to find out EFL students' experiences, i.e. the advantages and challenges students face in using TED Talk videos as a medium to improve their speaking skills. The design used in this research is a qualitative case study by collecting detailed information to explore a phenomenon thoroughly. The subjects of this study were class IX-A students totaling 24 students at MTSS SYAFIIYAH Pulorejo. To collect data researchers used observation, questionnaires, and interviews. The results show that TED Talk videos have several advantages and challenges experienced by students in English speaking classes. The advantages obtained from TED Talk videos in speaking lessons are making students better understand speaking skills, speaking activities become more interesting, TED Talk videos improve students' speaking skills which are twofold, namely having a beneficial effect on students' speaking development and motivating to learn more speaking skills, and the last advantage obtained by students is making speaking skills class more effective than looking at teacher notes. In addition, some students experienced challenges faced in using TED Talk media in improving English speaking skills, namely difficulty in understanding speaker's accent, limited vocabulary, and the last challenge faced by some students was difficulty in understanding speaker's pronunciation. However, the challenges faced by some students did not become an obstacle for students to improve their speaking skills by using TED Talk videos.
