Advisor: (I) Dr. Sri Wahyuni, M.Pd and (II) Ria Fakhrurriana, M.Pd. Keywords: Writing, teaching writing,Project Based Learning. Writing is a basic language skill, writing could be defined as language skill which have function for communicating the idea through symbols. So, when the other people want to read can understand. Writing have different set of competencies with speaking and in writing should pass some steps for publishing a product of writing from the result of thinking. Here, English teacher must be smart in choosing a media that will be applied in the class. The aim of this research is to investigate the impact of Project Based Learning model in teaching writing descriptive text for the tenth grade students of SMK Al Huda Kota Kediri. The design of this research was quasi-experimental. The population of the research is all from tenth grade of students‟ senior high school in academic year 2021/2021. The samples were two classes that named experimental and control group. The experimental group was class X-TKJ 2 than consist of 33students, meanwhile the control group was class X-TKJ 1that consist of 34 students. The researcher used tests as the instrument of the research. The format of the test is writing test. In analyzing data, the researcher used Analysis of Wilcoxon Match Pairs Test by SPSS Program 21.0 version. The result of this research showed that the data is not normally distributed. It was proven by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov significant value of the post-test of the experimental group was p (0.043) < α (0.05) and for the control groups was p (0.191) > α (0.05). therefore Mann Whitney test is used. Then, the result of Mann-Whitney, shows Sig.values 0.000, and it is smaller than < 0.05. It means that H0 is rejected. Can be concluded that there is significant differences between students who taught by using Project Based Learning Model and students who taught by using Directs Instruction Model.
