Abstract

Reading is a fluid process in which readers construct meaning by combining information from texts and their own background knowledge. Teachers can use a variety of teaching models to help students understand texts. The Fix-up strategy is one such strategy. This study aims to improve of students' reading comprehension skills by using the fix-up strategy (preview, forecasting, re-read, establish link, visualize, and make inferences based on what they have read) in the second grade of junior high school. This research uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, which was done in one cycle. Each cycle consists of planning, acting, observing and reflecting with three meetings. The subjects in this study were students of MTsN 8 Kediri in class VIII-G for the academic year 2022/2023. The data of this research was collected using preliminary test and cycle 1 test. It can be seen through the results of the students' preliminary test and cycle 1 test.
