Advisor:1) Bahruddin, S.S., M.Pd, and 2) Muhammad Afifi, S.Hum., M.Pd Keywords: Character Analysis, Character Education, Main Character, Rules of Civility Novel Character analysis is an approach to analyze a character in the novel. Character is also the main element in a novel, without character the story would not be going easily. Characters have the greatest effect to make the story more interesting. To describe a character more deeply, it needs a strategy in order to know how the character was going to do and done. In Rules of Civility novel, there are some characters, but Katey Kontent is the main character who has the strong element in the novel. Thus, the main character in the novel become the research object and be analyzed here. Then, Rules of Civility novel is also the one of the most popular and bestseller novels in New York. This study is aimed to describe the character education by the Ministry of Education and Culture found on the main character in Rules of Civility novel. This research used a descriptive qualitative method to describe, explain, and analyze the main character based on theory of Edgar V. Robert (1964). The instrument of this research was the researcher herself. The data of this research was the statement on the novel and the 18 Character Education values. Furthermore, the method used to collect the data was reading all chapter in Rules of Civility novel. After that, all data found are identified and classified to the 18 Character Education values. The result shows that the analysis of the main character in Rules of Civility novel found 12 characters values from the total 18 character values in the Character Education. In the data findings, there were found Honesty, Tolerance, Hard Work, Independence, Curiosity, Spirit of Nationality, Achievement Respect, Friendliness/Communicative, Reading Interest, Social Care, Responsibility, and Discipline values. Meanwhile, there were 6 values that not found such as Religiousness, Creativity, Democratic, Patriotic, Love of Peace, and Care of Environment values. From the main character we could learn some values to help us improve or build our social behavior. Character Education could be applied in the learning process so that the students could connect the subject matter with real life and the students are expected to have skills that could be used in applying knowledge in everyday life.
