Abstract

Improving students’ speaking skill through drama technique in SMAN 3 Plosoklaten in academic year of 4237.Thesis.English Department Faculty of Education Collage for Islamic.Advisor (3). Drs. Agus Edi Winarto, M.Pd,. (4). Bahruddin, S.S., M.Pd Key words: Drama Technique, Speaking Skill Speaking is one of the most difficult aspects of language learning for the teacher to help the students in teaching learning process. Then, the teacher should be creative in choosing media in order to the students are interested in speaking learning. The researcher found the technique to improve students’ speaking skill, and the researcher formulated the research problem as follow how can drama technique improve students’ speaking skill at SMAN 3 Plosoklaten. The design of the study is classroom action research. The subject of the study is students of XI IPA 6 at SMAN 3 Plosoklaten. The researcher used qualitative and quantitative data. The data were collected during the instructional process. The data also included the students’ responses to the teaching of speaking by using drama technique. The criteria of success are; 3) If at least 224 of students get score at least 77, and 4) If the average score is at least 77. Research result of the cycle 3 is the percentage of students that got minimum score 77 is 76, 334. The average score at least 77 is 72, 8. So the criteria of success in cycle 3 is not reached so it is needed any improvements for next cycle. In the cycle 4, the percentage of students that got minimum score 77 is 32, 544. The average score at least 77 is 23, 5. It means that drama technique can improve students’ speaking skill at SMAN 3 Plosoklaten.
