Abstract

Language can be defined as a means of communication in human life. In daily life, people need language to communicate, receive and share information. Language is used to express a person's emotions and feelings, and is also used to express a person's ideas, thoughts, and concepts. One way o express it through song. Through songs, people express not only their feelings, but also their thoughts and experiences. This research has a purpose: 1) to identify the types of figurative language that found in the song lyrics on Solipsism 0.2 album by Pamungkas; 2) to find out the most dominant figurative language that are used on Solipsism 0.2 album by Pamungkas. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The source of the data is 12 songs of Solipsism 0.2 album written by Pamungkas. In this study, the tools used by authors are recording. When collecting data, the researcher listens carefully and identifies the data based on the type of figurative language. In addition, the researcher analyzed it and explaining its true meaning. There are nine types of figurative language found in this study. They are hyperbole, metaphore, simile, personification, litotes, alliteration, synecdoche, paradox, and irony. Also, hyperbole is the most dominant figure of speech that found in Solipsism 0.2 album with a 33% percentage, followed by 29% of metaphore, 10% of simile, 7% of personification, 7% of litotes, 5% of alliteration, 3% of synecdoche, 3% of paradox, and 3% of irony. Furthermore, the study is limited because it includes only the types and the most dominant of figurative language of Solipsism 0.2 album by Pamungkas.
