Abstract
ABSTRACT Lestari, Uum Midah. 2022. Content Analysis on English Modules in K-13 and Merdeka Belajar at Junior High School. State Islamic Institute of (IAIN) Kediri, Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, English Department, Advisor I Dr. Ary Setya Budhi Ningrum, M.Pd, Advisor II Nurul Aini, M.Pd. Keywords : English Module, K-13, Merdeka Belajar The English module is the most important thing in the teaching and learning process, because the module presents various materials to be taught. In the 2013 curriculum, the English module used by schools, especially for the 8th grade junior high school level, is the “When English Rings a Bell” module written by Siti Wachidah, Asep Gunawan, Diyantari and Yuli Rulani Khatimah, a revised edition published in 2017 by Education Department. Meanwhile, in the 2020 pandemic era, schools have entered a new curriculum, namely Merdeka Belajar. The English Language Module at Merdeka Belajar is a series of teaching materials designed for students to use in independent study at home published by the Ministry of Education and Culture with the title “ Modul Pembelajaran Jarak Jauh pada Masa Pandemi Covid-19 untuk jenjang SMP Mata Pelajaran Bahasa Inggris untuk semester genap kelas VIII ". This study aims to determine the content, language, differences and similarities of the two modules. This research is included in the Content Analysis which the design uses a qualitative descriptive. The results showed that the English module at Merdeka Learn had better content and language quality than the K-13 English module, although there were some writing and punctuation errors in the preparation of the English module at Merdeka Learn. On the other hand, the researcher also found some similarities and differences between the two modules.
