Abstract
Google Classroom is an online learning application that is used to help online learning. Google Classroom is widely used in schools to support the learning process, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study investigated the students' perceptions towards the use of Google Classroom as online learning platforms. The research was conducted at SMAN 1 WATES which has used Google Classroom as the main learning medium during the pandemic. This research was a descriptive quantitative method with a survey design. The total population in this study was 385 students and the total sample was 116 students. The research subjects were all tenth-grade students at SMAN 1 WATES. The instruments used were questionnaires and interviews guide. In total there are 20 questions for the questionnaire. There are 4 aspects in the questionnaire, namely personalization (6 questions), Google Classroom features (4 questions), Operation of Google Classroom (5 questions), and interactivity (5 questions). Next, there are 4 interview questions. Researchers distributed online questionnaires to all students, after which carried out interviews with 10 students. The result of this study showed that in the personalization aspect 74% students have positive perceptions. In the aspect of Google Classroom features 75% students have positive perceptions. In the aspect of Operation of Google Classroom 70% students have positive perceptions. The last one is that in the aspect of interactivity 64% students have negative perceptions. This shows that Google Classroom helps the online learning process for students. However, students still feel less able to interact directly and easily with their teachers and friends. This application makes students easy to get learning material from the teacher. The features in this application can support online learning. Students can get exam questions by opening this application and can directly connect to Google Drive so that students can work on questions easily and comfortably. However, some students find it difficult when using Google Classroom. Students use that this application is difficult to use when the internet signal is not strong. So, based on the results of the questionnaire and interview, the tenth-grade students at SMAN 1 WATES have a positive perception of the use of the Google Classroom application.
