Abstract

Since the pandemic of the Coronavirus disease has attacked a lot of countries, it has many impacts on the world of education, one of which is the cessation of face-to-face learning in schools. Then, the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia is making innovations to support the online learning process, namely E-Learning Madrasah. The use of e-learning Madrasah is a new thing at the Islamic School, and each student has different perceptions on this platform. Thus, the thesis aims to find out the students’ perception and challenges towards the use of e-learning Madrasah to support EFL learning during Covid-19 Pandemic. This research used survey research design in analyzing and describing the student’s perception and challenges towards the use of E-Learning Madrasah to support EFL learning during Covid-19 Pandemic. The researcher conducted the study to obtain data in MAN 1 Kota Kediri with 70 students as participants. To obtain the result, the researcher distributed close-ended and open-ended questionnaires to the students. The researcher explained the result from an openended questionnaire descriptively and used SPSS to calculate the result of the close-ended questionnaire. The result of this study found that the students have a good perception towards the use of e-learning Madrasah. It can be proven by the result of four aspect in close-ended questionnaire. First is personalization aspect that obtained the mean of 3.06. Second is the features aspect that obtained the mean of 3.04. Third is the aspect of operationg system that got mean of 2.78. Fourth is the interactivity aspect that obtained the mean of 2.59. Then, the mean of all aspects is 2.95 that classified into good mean rank. Although the result show that students have a good perception, but they still have some challenges when using e-learning Madrasah, there are unstable servers, difficulty in understanding material, and bad internet connection. Therefore, the students argue that e-learning Madrasah cannot replace offline learning but it still can be used when the pandemic ends for abscesses, downloading additional material, and assignment collection. Furthermore, the students hope that e-learning could be even better application such as repair servers, optimize feature functions, improve the appearance, and they hope that e-learning Madrasah is already in the form of an application in the play store.
