Abstract
A’yun, Lailly Churotul. 2021. The Implementation of Distance Learning during COVID-19 Pandemic in Teaching English at MTsN 3 Nganjuk. Thesis, Departement of English Language Education Faculty of Education. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Kediri, Advisors: (1) Dr. Fathor Rasyid, M.Pd., and (2) Dr. Mukhammad Abdullah, M.Ag. Keywords: Implementation, Distance Learning, COVID-19 Pandemic, Teaching English During COVID-19 pandemic MTsN 3 Nganjuk using distance learning activities as a learning method. This study aims to know how the implementation of distance learning during COVID-19 in teaching english at MTsN 3 Nganjuk, to find out the teachers’ strategies in implementation of distance learning during COVID-19 pandemic in teaching english at MTsN 3 Nganjuk, and to find out the students’ strategies in implementation of distance learning during COVID-19 pandemic in teaching english at MTsN 3 Nganjuk The researcher method used in this research is qualitative descrictive method. The data collection techniques of this research used triangulation consisting of observation, interviews, and documentation. the participants of this research consisted of two English teachers and fiveteen students, researcher choose three students as source of data. The data were analyzed by using data reduction, data display and verification. The research findings are. The first, in implementation of distance learning teachers at MTsN 3 Nganjuk utilized two learning media for teaching students, the media were e-learning madrasah and whatsapp, e-learning media was used as a media for delivering material and whatsapp was used as reminder and communication platform between teacher and students, the implementation of distance learning at MTsN 3 Nganjuk including planning, learning process and evaluation. The second, several strategies that teacher used at MTsN 3 Nganjuk in teaching english include: reading strategy, speaking strategy, writting strategy and listening strategy. The last, several strategies that student at MTsN 3 Nganjuk used in learning english especially during implementation of distance learning namely: memory strategy, sosial strategy, metacognitive strategy and cognitive strategy.
