Abstract
Speaking skill is ability to express sounds, articulation or words as a mean of expressing, declaring also conveying taught, idea and feeling. Speaking is one of an important skill to learn. It also need process to learn speaking, because there are five components of speaking to master it, those are vocabulary, grammar, pronounciation, fluency and comprehension. Teaching in the classroom using a cooperative learning and using interesting strategy will help students to increase speaking skill. The aim of this study is to know the effectiveness of using Vlogging to increase the speaking skill at SMKN 1 Ngasem Kediri. The population of this study is eleventh grade students of SMKN 1 Ngasem Kediri academic year 2019/2020. The sample of this study, researcher took two classes from the same population that consist of 35 students for the research. The 35 students of experimental group were taught speaking using Vlogging and 35 students of control group were taught speaking using another technique, traditional technique namely discussion. This research conducted a quasi-experimental research. The instrument test, namely pretest and posttest. The score of them was calculated by using ANCOVA. The result of this study has shown that the data was normally distributed. The Levene‟s Test shows that experimental and control group has the same ability. Then, the result of homogenity regression shows that the significant value is higher than 0.05. Means there is no interaction between covariate and independent variable. The last assumption is the output of ANCOVA showed that the significant value is lower than 0.05. It means that there is relationship between the covariate and the dependent variable. So, there was enough evidence to reject the null hypothesis and accepted the alternative hypothesis. Based on the findings above, the researcher conclude that Vlogging is an effective teaching strategy to increase the students‟ speaking skill.
