Abstract

Strong vocabulary helps students participate in meaningful conversations, understand oral and written language more quickly, and communicate clearly and effectively. To help students grasp the word and its meaning, teachers typically teach vocabulary word by word. It is necessary to teach vocabulary in detail. The objective of this research is to know how Google Lens may be used to teach vocabulary in the classroom and how using it can help students' vocabulary grow. This study took place done at SMPN 2 ASEMBAGUS. This study used an experimental design with two groups an experimental group and a control group and a quantitative research methodology. All first-semester seventh-grade students at SMPN 2 ASEMBAGUS during the academic year 2025–2026 make up the research's population. The seventh-grade students at SMPN 2 ASEMBAGUS serve as the research's sample. The researcher only used two classes as a sample for this research. The first class, 7A, was an experimental class where Google Lens was used for teaching. On the other hand, students in the second class, 7B, which served as a control group, were taught using dictionaries. To gather data, the experimental class and the control class completed a pre-test and a post-test. Because the results of the normality test show the data have a normal distribution, the test's outcome was examined using the ANCOVA Test in SPSS 25. The ANCOVA results show a class significance value of 0.000, which is less than 0.05. This means the null hypothesis is reject and accept the alternative hypothesis. In other words, there is a significant difference between students who used Google Lens and those who did not. It can be concluded that Google Lens is an effective tool for language acquisition.
