Abstract

Nuraini, Desi.2015 . Improving Students' ability In Writing Descriptive Text Through "Wholesome Scattering Game at the first grade of SMAN 1 Ngadiluwih, Kediri In The Academic Year of 2014/2015. Advisor 1 Drs.H.Nur Akhlis.M.Pd, advisor 2 Mohammad Muhyidin, M.Pd. Keyword: Writing Descriptive Text, Wholesome Scattering Game This study is aimed to enhance the students' ability in getting writing. In this research is based on the phenomena that students have difficulties in writing descriptive text, students could not describe thing, place and person, lack of vocabularies and cannot arrange the words properly. So they need some ways or method which could them in writing descriptive text. Hence the researcher used wholesome scattering games to help them write descriptive text easily and enjoyable. The research design of this study is Classroom Action Research (CAR). To do this research, the researcher uses the instruments: observation and test. The subject of the research is the first grade students of SMAN INgadiluwih, the class consist of 29 students. The criteria of success is the students' score test if the students get 76 minimally from the criteria of minimum score (KKM). The result of the research shows that the researcher has three cycles to implement wholesome scattering game successfully.In this research the researcher took a test of their improvement in each cycle. Before cycle held the researcher by the topic my best friend and found the mean on the pre-cycle test is 59.44. By percentage of successful is 34.48%.(10 students out of 29) passed the test.In the first cycle the researcher gave the topic for their test about my mother and found the mean of the score of the students' writing was 68.13 by percentage of successful is 51.72%(15 students out of 29)passed the test. In the second cycle the researcher gave the topic about my family and found the mean of the score of the students' writing was 75.86 by percentage of successful is 72.41% ( 21students out of 29)passed the test. But that is still had no fulfill the criteria of successful. Then the researcher does the cycle 3. The researcher found the improvement in this meeting. The researcher gave the topic for their test is about my favorite place. The mean of the score of the students' writing was 78.48 by percentage of successful is 86.20% (25students out of 29)passed the test. The result of the research shows that the students improve their ability in writing descriptive text using wholesome scattering game. They are better in writing and arranging the words than in the pre-cycle test. Finally, the advantages of using this game are that the students could arrange and develop their paragraph in descriptive paragraph easily and understand. In other words, cycle 3was successful and it does not need to revise the treatment.
