Abstract

This research aims to describe students' perceptions of the use of ChatGPT in learning writing.This research was conducted using a quantitative method with a survey design. Quantitative research is a study that explains phenomena using numerical data. The sample of the research consisted of three classes from ninth grade students at MTsN 9 Kediri. 71 students were selected to complete a questionnaire about students’ perception towards the use of Chat GPT in learning writing. The collected data was processed using Microsoft Excel then analyzed using descriptive statistic. The result of the study state that students at MTsN 9 Kediri generally showed a positive attitude towards the use of ChatGPT as an English learning medium even though 14.08% of student expressed neutral. The use of ChatGPT has proven effective in helping students organize their writing with 10.2% of students gave neutral reponse regarding the ease of use of the ChatGPT. Through its advanced language processing capabilities, ChatGPT can understand and answer various questions, as well as assist with sentence structure and correct grammatical errors.
