The Effect of Using Story Mapping Strategy on Students’ Reading Comprehension of Narrative Text, Department of English Language Education, Faculty of Tarbiyah State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Kediri. Advisor (I): Mohammad Muhyidin, M.Pd. and advisor (II) Annisa Aulia Saharani, M.Pd. Keywords: Reading Comprehension, Reading, Story Mapping This study aims to determine the effect of using story mapping strategy on students’ reading comprehension on narrative text. The ability to understand, interpret, and extract the meaning from the written text is the meaning of reading comprehension. When students read, they are expected to gain information and knowledge. The researcher still finds that many students face difficulty in understanding reading text. The research design used in this study was a quasi-experimental design that consisted of the experimental and control groups. The researcher used MA Al-Mahrusiyah Kediri as a population and XI-G and XI-H as the samples for this study. The experimental group was students in XI-H class and the control group was students in XI-G class. In this study, the researcher used a test to determine students’ reading comprehension before and after the treatment. Before the treatment was applied, the researcher used a pre-test to determine students’ reading comprehension. After the treatment was applied, the researcher used a post-test to determine students’ reading comprehension. Then, the result of the test was analyzed using the SPSS 24.0 version. Mann-Whitney U was used to analyze the result of this study because the data was not normally distributed. The result of the data analysis showed the significance value of the data was 0.003, it was less than 0.05. It indicates that the null hypothesis was rejected so the alternative hypothesis was accepted. It can be supported by the mean of both classes, in the experimental class has a higher mean that was 76,36 than the control class which was 69,43. Based on the result, it showed that the story mapping strategy is effective on teach students reading comprehension on narrative text.
