Abstract

Vocabulary is the foundation of learning a new language. Vocabulary plays an important role in communication by providing meaning. It starts with words that form sentences and becomes the larger structure of paragraphs. Vocabulary is the basic foundation of communication. By mastering many words, we can express ideas, feelings. The more vocabulary you have, the easier it is for you to understand what you read or listen to information in the language. This study aimed to identify the effectiveness of Drops App as a vocabulary mastery media for Junior High School students at SMP Al Huda Kota Kediri. Researcher used quantitative research using a quasi experimental design. the sample of this study was class VII D as an experimental group using Drops App media and class VII B as a control group using Flashcards. This study used a pre-test conducted before treatment and a post-test after treatment to collect data. researchers calculated the data using SPSS version 26. The findings of the study showed that the average pre-test in the experimental class was 51.83 with a poor category and the average of the control was 53.91 with a poor category. In addition, the average post-test score in the experimental class was 82.61 with a fairly good category and the average value of the control class was 72.73 with a less good category, The ANCOVA test results showed that the significant (Sig.) is 0.000 which is smaller than 0.05. This means that H0 (null hypothesis) is rejected and Ha is accepted which means there is a significant difference in vocabulary acquisition using Drops App. in this case it can be concluded that Drops App is effectively used in vocabulary mastery in grade 7th.
