Abstract

Vocabulary is the main element of language skill and gives much of the primary for how good learners speak, listen, read, and write. Therefore, good vocabulary mastery is a significant part of effective language communication. This research was a quasi-experimental design with the treatment held in four meetings, 2 x 30 minutes for each class. This design used pre-test and post-test to determine students’ vocabulary mastery. The result of the hypothesis test showed that p (0.00) < α (0.05). According to the findings above, it concluded that there was a significant difference between students taught by using children short story and students taught by using an English textbook at MAN 1 Nganjuk.
