Abstract
Prasetio, Reza Estu. 2024. The Use of Video as The Media of Learning Vocabulary at MTs Annawawiyyah Kediri. Thesis, Department of English Education, Faculty of Tarbiyah, Kediri State Islamic Institute. Supervisors : (I) Drs. Agus Edi Winarto, M.Pd, (II) Annisa Aulia Saharani, M.Pd. Keywords: vocabulary, visual media. This study investigates the effectiveness of using visual media, especially videos, to enhance vocabulary learning in Grade 1 students at MTs Annawawiyyah Kediri.The study aims to explain the application of visual media through vocabulary learning videos, the problems teachers face in applying visual media through vocabulary learning videos, and solutions to overcome the problems teachers face in applying visual media through vocabulary learning videos. The methodology includes qualitative research involving participant observation, interviews with educators, and data analysis to understand the impact of video media on language learning. Findings suggest that video media is a powerful tool to engage students, improve comprehension, and facilitate vocabulary retention. Challenges identified include technical issues and time management. The study emphasizes the importance of strategic planning and training for educators to optimize the benefits of video media in language learning contexts. The implications highlight the significance of incorporating visual media in teaching practices to enhance vocabulary learning and student engagement. The result of this research The Use of Video as the Media of Learning Vocabulary at MTs Annawawiyah Kediri implementation carried out in the classroom meetings focuses on adjective vocabulary, with the first discussing it normally and the second discussing it quickly and seriously. Classroom activities involve observation sheets and a test to determine students' mastery. Also, the problem faced by teachers is that English lessons are held in the sixth and seventh hours, causing some students to be sleepy and lazy. The teacher's focus on initial learning activities led to insufficient time distribution between core and closing activities, making the learning process less optimal. For the solution to engage students, teachers use interactive learning techniques like ice breaking and openly asking vocabulary-related questions, fostering confidence and enhancing the learning process. Ensuring students feel comfortable asking questions of friends or teachers is crucial for successful English learning
