Abstract
The objective of this research is to improve student’s writing skill using Digital Storytelling Project. The Design of this research is classroom action research. The subject of the study was the seventh grade students of MTsN 2 Kota Kediri in academic year 2017/2018. There were 36 students of excellent class. The action research was conducted in January 2018. In this research, the researcher taught writing descriptive text by using photo story 3 (Digital Storytelling). The researcher conducts a cycle of action and used paired t-test. The result of the research shows that the researcher has a cycle of Digital Storytelling implementation successfully. In this research, the researcher took a test from pre-test and post-test to know their improvement of their writing by using Digital Storytelling Project. Before doing the cycle, the researcher did pre-test and found the mean score is 14.9. Then, the researcher did cycle of writing descriptive text using digital storytelling and found the mean score is 17.8. Based on the score of the pre-test and post-test, the students’ score have improved. Furthermore, the researcher did not use criteria of success of KKM. This study used paired t-test to know the student’s improvement by using Digital Storytelling. It meant that there was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test. The result of the research shows that the students improve their ability in writing descriptive text by using photo story 3. They are better in writing description about places and things. Based on the questioner given, the students fell more enjoyable and understanding to write using media than using manual paper. The media and software also can build their interest in writing. It can be known from the result of their post-test. Finally, the advantage of writing using media was successful and it does not need to revise the treatment.
