Abstract
Speaking English fluently is the primary indicator of language proficiency. As a skill of English, speaking English needs to be mastered in English, speaking English is a way of communicating with each other, and speaking English is also a language that needs to be shared with others. The aim of this research is to find out whether animation video can improve students' speaking skills. In this research, the researcher used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design because the researcher wanted to find out whether doses animation movie improve student speaking ability. The subjects of this research were students from SMAN 1 Ngadiluwih, in class X1-3 with a total of 36 students. This research was carried out by applying Kemmis and Mc Taggart's theory, by carrying out 2 cycles in this research. The results of this research show that in cycle 1, students' speaking skills have not shown the improvement. Students still feel embarrassed and afraid of making mistakes when trying to speak English. In cycle 1 only 11 students (39%) got adequate results, while 25 students (69%) did not get good results. In cycle 2 the results showed significant development from the results of the class XI-3 speaking test. In cycle 2 the students' average score was 80, students no longer felt embarrassed to speak English. After carrying out several tests, students' speaking skills can improve, and the video animation media that has been applied to class XI students at SMAN 1 Ngadiluwih is successful.
