Abstract
Speaking ability is the ability that is needed by everyone and needs to be learned since the people still learning in schools. The method of learning speaking can be done in various ways. There are some learning method using role play, dialogue, and developed methods. But, still the students need the improvement in speaking English. This research’s main objective is to improve the students’ speaking skill by making short film method. The method of the research is Classroom Action Research that is made of five sections. First section is Preliminary research that using pre-test, second section is planning, third Section is implementing/ acting, fourth section is observing, and fifth section is reflecting that includes post-test in this section. The preceding section starting from planning and end with reflecting is summarized as cycle one. Cycle one considered as success if there are 75% of total students pass the minimum score criteria. Otherwise, if there are less than 75% pass the minimum score criteria, the researcher must apply cycle two that are consists of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. If cycle two is fail or less than 75% students pass the criteria, the researcher must apply cycle three. Meanwhile, this research has succeeded in cycle two and that means the researcher doesn’t need to apply cycle three. In case of this research, the cycle is considered as successful if at least 75% of students get score above 70 as the average score in MTs Nurul Islam. After several steps are taken, the research is success with 76,67 % students pass the post test in cycle two. The total number of students that pass the minimum score criteria is more than 75%. So that means that making film as learning method can improve students’ speaking ability.
