Abstract
Artificial Intelligence technology can be used as a means of developing English learning for students. However, they are still concerned about some of the drawbacks of using Artificial Intelligence. Therefore, the researcher wants to investigate what are EFL students’ perceptions of the use of Artificial Intelligence in English learning. This study aims to find out EFL students’ perceptions of the use of Artificial Intelligence in English learning. The researcher supposes that this study can give a point of view on the use of Artificial Intelligence in English. The study adopts a qualitative design, employing surveys to gather data from students who use Artificial Intelligence to learn English. The participants are selected from English department students. The researcher collected the data by using open-ended and closed-ended questionnaire which has sixteen questions. The questionnaire was distributed to 126 English department students. Statistical results are obtained using Microsoft Excel, and IBM SPSS Statistics 25. The result of this study found that EFL students have a positive perception about the use of Artificial Intelligence. Students like to use Artificial Intelligence to learn English as it makes it easier for students to learn English. It also can improve students’ English comprehension. Besides that, Artificial Intelligence also helps students improve their English skills using products of Artificial Intelligence like ChatGPT, and Google Translate. However, they are still concerned about the drawbacks of using Artificial Intelligence.
