Nadhiroh, Eka Nurlaily. 2024. The implementation of Genre-Based Approach (GBA) in Teaching of Analytical Exposition Text at SMAN 1 PRAMBON. English Department, Faculty of Tarbiyah, State Islamic Institute of Kediri (IAIN Kediri). Advisors Dr. Ary Setya Budhi Ningrum, M.Pd and Nur Afifi, M.App.Ling. Keywords: Genre Based Approach, Writing Skill, Analytical Exposition Text Every Minister of Education must have new regulations, as an effort to advance education in Indonesia. Until now there is a new regulation that has been set by the Indonesian Minister of Education, namely that education in Indonesia uses a curriculum Merdeka. This research conducted on the implementation of a genre-based approach in learning Exposition texts. This research aims to test the implement of the genre-based approach on students’ writing skills in Exposition texts. The research employs a Classroom Action Research (CAR). Bogdan & Bilken, (1992) explain that action research is the systematic collection of information that is designed to bring about social change. In addition, Cameron- Jones (1983) defines action research as a research carried out by practitioners with a view to improve their professional practice and understand it better. There are several models of teaching and learning cycles in Genre Based Approach. Rothery (1996 cited in Emilia 2005) mentions that four phases of teaching-learning cycles consisting of (a) building knowledge of field or negotiating of field, (b)modeling and deconstructing of text, (c) joint construction of the text, (d) independent construction of text. The sample totally 31 student at XI IPA 2 in SMAN 1 PRAMBON From the results it can be seen that their grades improved from the first meeting. Initially they got an average score of around 66.84, but in the next test they got a score that increased to 82.40. So it is clear that students' writing skills have improved. Therefor it can be concluded that Genre Based Approach can improve student’s writing skill of Analytical Exposition at the second grade of SMAN 1 PRAMBON
