Abstract

Listening comprehension is the ability to understand spoken language and make sense of the message being conveyed. It is a complex process that entails listening to what is being said as well as deciphering its meaning and comprehending the context in which it is being utilized. One of factors to support their listening is through vocabulary mastery. Vocabulary mastery in listening comprehension are carried out because of the importance of mastery of English for students in the modern globalization era. Also watching movies can help improve students' vocabulary and also help improve listening comprehension. This study aimed to find out whether any significant correlation among students’ habit in watching English movie, vocabulary mastery and listening comprehension in MAN 1 Kota Kediri. This study used correlation quantitative research design. This research had one questionnaire and two tests (vocabulary test and listening test). The participant of this study was 100 students of twelfth grade in MAN 1 KOTA KEDIRI in 2023 academic year. To analyze the correlation, researcher used Kendal’s tau b formula with SPSS. As follow the finding of this research. The First, it revealed that there was low significant correlation between habit watching English movie and listening comprehension (sig. value=.019, r=.170). Second, there was low correlation between vocabulary mastery and listening comprehension (sig=.044, r= 151). Third, that there was low correlation habit watching English movie and vocabulary mastery with listening comprehension (sig. F change=.012, R= .295). Based of data above, although the correlation is low, the level of significance is sufficient to reject the null hypothesis (Ho), which means that (Ha) is accepted. It means that students’ habits watcing English and vocabulary mastery have a coefficient correlation enough to the students’ listening comprehension. It can be said that when students have habits watching English movie and vocabulary mastery, they also that have good listening comprehension skill.
