Abstract

The Importance of Writing, Writing Ability, Teaching Writing, TED Talk as A Media in Teaching Writing, Explanation Text. Based on phenomena taking place in school that most of the students in SMAN 3 Kediri considered writing as the most difficult skill. The objective of this research was to describe whether or not the use of TED Talk was effective in improving the students’ writing achievement in learning English as a foreign language. This research was classroom action research. The subject of this research were 36 students. The instrument of this research was writing test, observation, and documentation. This research was conducted in two cycles, namely cycle 1, and cycle 2. The results of the student’s writing test showed that the number of subjects that passed (KKM ≥ 80) there was an improvement from 25% of students in pre-assessment, 50% of students in cycle 1, and 80,55% of students in cycle 2.. This researcher concluded using listening TED Talk improved students’ writing ability
