Abstract

Purpose of this study is to find the difference between students' motivation in offline and online learning during the pandemic era The purpose of this study is to find the difference in students' motivation in offline and online learning during the pandemic era at SMKN 2 Kediri compares the results of learning motivation from the two variables to determine which learning method was more effective in improving students' learning motivation. This is because students experience a decrease in learning motivation in online learning during the pandemic era. This research was conducted on 87 respondents of tenth-grade students at SMKN 2 Kediri. The design of research in this study is a comparative study with a quantitative approach. The researcher used questionnaires to collect the data. To investigate whether there is a comparison between students' motivation in offline and online learning during the pandemic era using the Paired Sample T-Test formula. The results of data analysis using the Paired Sample T-Test formula showed that it was bigger than the t-table or 7,771 > 1,988. In addition, the results of the output data show that the significance value is smaller than the alpha value or 0.00 < 0.05. Therefore, it means the Hypothesis Alternative (Ha) is accepted, then the Null Hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. It can be concluded, that there is a significant difference between students' motivation in offline and online learning. The findings of this study indicate that the percentage of students' motivation in offline learning is 76.24% and the percentage of students' motivation in online learning is 68.31% and both are in the high category. This means that there is a 7,93% decrease in students’ motivation for online learning. However, students tend to have higher motivation in offline learning than in online learning. So, there is a difference between students’ motivation in offline and online learning during the pandemic era at SMKN 2 Kota Kediri.
