Abstract

Writing plays an important part of students‟ English lesson. However, learners ever faced some difficulties in learning, one of them are less idea and imagination. This thesis aims to find out any improvement in writing English with the gallery walk technique. Gallery walk technique can make students feel easy to express and organize their idea. This study deals with the improvement of students‟ achievement by using galley walk. This research was conducted by applying classroom action research in one cycle. The subjects of this study were the first-grade in SMA N 4 Kediri academic year 2020/2021. The research instruments were an observation sheet, test, and documentation. This study was done in one cycle. The researcher procedures of this research consisted of 4 steps. They are planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. Researcher used Classroom Action Research to solve their classroom problem practices to get students‟ better English achievement, because they feel that writing is difficult and they have no ideas to develop the sentences. From the findings and discussion, the result of gallery walk technique can improve students‟ writing ability. It can be seen from the results of test-2 which shows an improvement in student scores. The criteria of success at least students get 70% or reach score 75. In the Preliminary test (Test-1), the mean score was 59.8 and in Cycle 1 it increased to 79.3. In preliminary test there were 6 of students passed and 25 of students were failed. Then, in Cycle test there were 28 of students passed and 3 of students were failed. It meant that teaching writing through gallery walk can improved students‟ writing skill.
