Kamalia, Ma’rifatul. 2021. Correlation between Students Motivation and Their English Achievement at 7 Grade Students of SMPN 1 Selorejo. State Islamic Institute of Kediri (IAIN) Kediri, Faculty of Tarbiyah, Department of Language English Education, Advisors: 1) Erna Nurkholida, M.Pd (2) Bahruddin, S.S., M.Pd Key words: Motivation, achievement This study aims to find out the correlation between students’ motivation and their English achievement. For this study the researcher takes seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Selorejo as the sample. This research used correlation design with quantitative approach which used Attitude/ Motivation Test Battery by Gardner to measure students’ motivation. It contained of 15 items with 4 point Likert-Scale. And the second instrument was students’ English test. Those test done by the English teacher, then the researcher took the result of that test to measure students’ English achievement. The researcher calculated used manual formula and SPSS 22 program in order to make it valid. The finding of this research showed that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. The result of (r) calculation for students’ motivation and their English achievement is 0,855. Based on the table of interpretation of (r) coefficient, the result of (r) calculated (0.855) are among 0,710 – 0,900. The result explained that there is high and positive correlation between students’ motivation and their English achievement of 7 grade students at SMPN 1 Selorejo. It means that if the students’ motivation is high, the English achievement is also high.
