Abstract
Textbook is one of important things that the teacher or the students are used in teaching learning activity. Indonesian curriculum had changed in new design to independent learning. In Merdeka Belajar as the new curriculum also has the English textbook. English textbook in Merdeka Belajar provided the material about Indonesian values and its traditional culture that adopted from Pancasila which is the program namely P3 (Profil Pelajar Pancasila). The objective of this study is to analyze the Indonesian values through P3 (Profil Pelajar Pancasila) that can be found from English textbook in Merdeka Belajar as the new curriculum in Indonesia with the textbook for students’ seventh grade in junior high school entitled “English for Nusantara”. The method that used in this research is qualitative research methodology which used content analysis as research design to analyze the data from English textbook with the explanantion in descriptive qualitative models. Indonesian values that found in this textbook are based on P3 (Profil Pelajar Pancasila) that adopted from Pancasila. These Indonesian values in P3 (Profil Pelajar Pancasila) can be classified into some values are: Having faith, fear God, and have Noble Character, Global Diversity, Mutual Cooperation, Independent, Critical Reasoning/Critical Thinking, and Creative. This English textbook is good resource for students to learn a lot of Indonesian cultures and its traditional values based on the name of textbook “English for Nusantara”. In the material of textbook contains some of Indonesian value that can be learnt and practiced by the students to improve their character building based on Profil Pelajar Pancasila programs (P3) which is developed in Merdeka Belajar curriculum. Some of Indonesian values are examples of the implementation the program in Merdeka Belajar through contents in textbook. This textbook showed the Indonesian value through picture, sentences, or material in the textbook. However, this textbook is suitable for students’ grade seventh in junior high school to study about culture besides the students learn English language.
