Abstract

Profil Pelajar Pancasila has an important role as the main reference that directs educational policy, including being a reference for educators in building the character and competence of students. The purpose of this research is to provide an overview implementation of Profil Pelajar Pancasila and to find out the problems of applying Profil Pelajar Pancasila at SMPN 3 Kota Kediri The research design used descriptive qualitative because the researcher wanted to know the facts of an event or phenomenon when conducting research directly from the field. The subject of this research is one of an English teacher at SMPN 3 Kota Kediri. The researcher used observation and interview to collect the data. Based on the result of study, the implementation of Profil Pelajar Pancasila in class 7F and 7G of SMPN 3 Kota Kediri is almost perfect. The researcher found 5 of the 6 dimensions implemented by an English teacher in class 7F and 7G in teaching English, namely faith, fear of God Almighty, and noble character (beriman, bertakwa kepada Tuhan yang Maha Esa, dan berahlak mulia), mutual cooperation (bergotong royong), independent (mandiri), critical thinking (bernalar kritis), and creative (kreatif). The researcher also found the problems of applying Profil Pelajar Pancasila in every dimensions: (1) problem of faith, fear of God Almighty, and noble character dimension is students play games or open social media on their handphones while learning in class; (2) problem of mutual cooperation dimension is some passive students when discussing to make descriptive text about people with the teacher; (3) problem of independent dimension is students copy the answers of their friends in doing individual assignment; (4) problem of creative dimension is students have difficulties in describing people from role card orally; and (5) there is no problem of critical thinking dimension.
