Abstract
TikTok has become one of the most popular applications in the world and has caught the attention of children and young people around the world. TikTok is an application where users can record videos, edit videos, and share their videos with other users. Moreover, TikTok is one of the applications used as a medium for learning speaking for students to try to communicate using the duet feature with native speakers. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of TikTok to enhance EFL students’ speaking skills on eleventh grade at SMA Negeri 3 Kediri. This study used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design. The subjects of this study were students of class XI SMA Negeri 3 Kediri. The two classes selected as samples were XI IPS 4 as the experimental group consisted of 36 students and XI IPS 3 as the control group consisted of 34 students. During the data collection process, both the experimental group and the control group were given a pre-test and post-test. The results of the pre-test and post-test will be tested using ANCOVA in SPSS 26. The results of the data analysis in this study found that TikTok has a significant influence to enhance the speaking skills of students of class XI IPS 4 SMA Negeri 3 Kediri. The significant results obtained were p (0.002) < α (0.05), this indicates that with the data that has been obtained, the null hypothesis in this study is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted. These results indicate that TikTok is an effective learning medium for teaching students' speaking skill.
