Hasanah, Uswatun.2023. The Correlation Between Vocabulary Mastery and Reading Comprehension at Senior High School. English Department, Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, State Islamic Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Kediri. Advisor: (I) Mohammad Muhyidin, M.Pd. (II) Erna Nurkholida, M.Pd. Keywords: Correlation, Vocabulary Mastery, Reading Comprehension Vocabulary is an important aspect of learning English and students must master it to be able to understand English lessons. Mastery of vocabulary requires students to understand the text, in other words, the lack of vocabulary in learning English will cause difficulties in understanding the text. Reading is one of the important language skills. by reading people can get information. This study aims to determine whether there is a significant correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension. Quantitative approach with correlation design is used to analyze this research data. The number of participants was 143 students of class X MAN 1 Kota Kediri. They took vocabulary and reading comprehension tests by answering 18 multiple choice questions. To analyze the correlation, the researcher used Spearman's formula with SPSS ver 26.0 for windows. The results showed that the data obtained showed that all variables had a significant value (sig.) of 0.000. Then, the results showed that the correlation coefficient between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension was 0.441, and the correlation coefficient between vocabulary mastery and students' reading comprehension was r = 0.499. Based on the results above, even though the correlation is low, the significance level is sufficient to reject the null hypothesis (Ho) which means (Ha) is accepted. It can be said, when students have high vocabulary mastery, it means that the students' ability in reading comprehension is getting better.
