Abstract

Language style is one part of the language used to give a good figure of speech to a work of art by showing the author's own personality and what will be discussed in this thesis is about metaphor. Metaphor is a style of language where the use of language does not match the actual meaning or can also be compared to one another. Metaphor is a language that is used to convey messages implicitly, usually done by comparing what we want to convey with several things that are usually still related to it, be it physical similarities, characteristics, character, or one's perception. The focus in this thesis is (1) what are the metaphors found in the book The Little Prince and then according to the theory used, (2) interpreting the metaphorical sentences assisted by experts The research design used by researchers here is to use descriptive qualitative. The technique used in collecting data is first the researcher determines the book to be used, the second the researcher reads the book several times so that it can be ascertained that there are no deficiencies, the third the researcher searches for and classifies metaphorical sentences according to the theory used. The analysis carried out by the author in conducting this research was first by classifying the data, the two researchers were required to check the data and also validate the research, the three researchers concluded the result from the research. From the research results, it is known that there are forty eight metaphorical sentences that are in accordance with the theory used by researchers. Three types of metaphors were found out of the four types of metaphors according to the theory. The data found were eighteen data for anthropomorphic metaphors, three data for synesthetic metaphors and twenty six data for abstract metaphors, animal metaphors were not found in this book.
