Abstract

This research tries to investigate the Discourse Analysis based on Grice theory conversational implicature in Talk Show Program, Bonansa English Show. This research also intends to show the importance of contextual meaning in English speaking skill.When we speak we produce the text and it should be meaningful. In the nature of communication, we can find the speaker, the listener, the message and the feedback. Speaking could not be separated from pronunciation as it encourages learners to learn the English sounds. The research design used in this research is descriptive qualitative method because the researcher wants to describe types of Conversational Implicature and identifying maxims based on the Grice theory that used in Bonansa English Show. The data is a transcript conversation in talk show program Bonansa English Show. The researcher collects the data from Bonansa Radio (bonanza English show) by recording their voice every Tuesday. And then, the researcher analyzing the data to find the answer of the problems that was presented before. The researcher identifying the conversational implicature identifying the meaning conversational principle and maxim by Grice theory of conversational implicature. The research present about the kinds of conversational implicature, there are generalized and particularized. and a general cooperative principle between speakers and hearers which controls or guides the way they speak. The cooperative principle consists of four maxims. Maxim of quality, maxim of quantity, maxim of relation and maxim of manner. The research results are The types of General conversational implicature is 16 utterances, and particularized conversational implicature is 11 utterance. And The next step is types of Maxim Produced by Announcer and Guest in the Bonansa English Show. Maxim of quality is 7 utterances, maxim of quantity is 12 utterances, maxim of relation is 17 utterances and maxim of manner is 8 utterances.
