Abstract
ABSTRACT Yumna Roihanah KR, 2023.”Using Talking Stick To Improve Students’ Speaking Skills in the English The English Teaching Learning Process at MTSN 1 NGANJUK”. Thesis. Department of English Language Education, Faculty of Tarbiyah, State Islamic Institute of Kediri, Advisors (I) Moh.Muhyidin, M.Pd, (II) Muhammad Afifi., S.Hum, M.Pd. Keywords: English Teaching Learning Process, Speaking Skills, Talking Stick The purpose of this research to improve students’ speaking skills in the English teaching learning process at MTSN 1 NGANJUK. The research gives some useful information about the using talking stick to improve students’ speaking skills in the English teaching learning process. The result of this research is useful. This research is expected to improve students' speaking skills through the talking stick method. In this research, the teachers enjoy learning English by using the talking stick method and it is useful for teachers in learning speaking. This research uses class action research called by (CAR). As well as being able to develop new abilities in the teaching and learning process during class. This research was conducted at MTSN 1 NGANJUK which located in JL.K.H Abdul Fattah Nglawak Kertosono kabupaten Nganjuk. The subject of this action research was the students’ of VII A at MTSN 1 NGANJUK Total of the students’ of the class were 34. This research was the classroom action research (CAR). This study collects the data using pre-test, post-test documentation, observation. The result of this research show that Talking Stick Strategy have positive result in improving the students’ speaking skills Among the seven graders of MTSN 1 NGANJUK. It can be proven by the students’ average score from preliminary pre test to post test. The score in preliminary was 14,70%. The average score in pre-test was 32,29% post-test I was 71,42% and become 85,29% in post-test II. So, the researcher and collaborator (teacher) concluded that the talking stick strategies was able to improve students speaking skills. To sum up, Therefore, it could be concluded that the students’ achievement in speaking skills improved well and the technique that was applied was successful.
