Abstract

Song is one of the literature works. In every literature work, must be has lexical and contextual meaning. The song was chosen for analysis because most of us often listen music, and the language of lyrics song are easy to understand. In lyrics of song surely has a message from song writer. This research explains contextual meaning and their kinds found in song lyrics of Clean Bandit. The types of contextual meaning of the words in Clean Bandit songs. There are 5 songs were chosen to be analyzed. This research uses qualitative method. The researcher analyses the object of Clean Bandit song. This research uses theory from J.D Parera. The result of this research lexical and contextual found in 5 songs of Clean Bandits, the words that belongs to the kinds of contextual meaning. There are 11 kinds meaning based on Parera‘s theory, but in this research found 7 kinds of meaning. They are language context, situational context, purposeful context, mood context, time context, place context, context of object. The researcher hopes that this research can usefull for the other researcher and also on increases the depth of the semantic analysis.
